For referring offices

How to refer a patient

We work with a referral from your doctor or other provider. We do not diagnose. Medical massage here means massage after a referral, by a licensed therapist, with a note back to you.

The desk sends our referral form or takes the referral your office already uses. It needs the patient's name and phone number, the referring provider and what the provider is asking for, in the provider's own words. We read it before the first visit, and we ask the patient what they want from the hour.

  • A phone call, a form or the patient's own copy

  • The patient chooses the therapist and the time

  • We confirm the first visit to your office

Four steps

From the referral to the note back

  1. 01

Step 1: Your office sends the referral

Call the desk and we will send our referral form, or send us the referral you already use. It names the patient, the referring provider and what the provider is asking for.

  2. 02

Step 2: We call the patient, and tell your office

The desk calls the patient within two business days to choose a therapist and a time, and tells your office the date once the first visit is booked, so you know the referral arrived.

  3. 03

    Step 3: The first visit

The therapist reads the referral, checks pressure and areas to leave alone with the patient, and begins. The patient is covered the whole time.

  4. 04

    Step 4: We write back

After the first visit and again when the visits end, a short note goes to the referring office.

Both ways

What a referral needs, and what we send back

  • What a referral needs

Short, and in the provider's words.

    • The patient's name and a phone number

    • The referring provider and a contact at the office

    • What the provider is asking for, in their own words

    • How many visits and how far apart, if the referral says

  • What we send back

    Plain, and never a diagnosis.

    • That the first visit took place, and when

    • How many visits the patient kept and how long each was

    • Which areas the patient and therapist worked on

    • Anything the patient asked us to pass on

For the office that refers

Do you diagnose?

No. This is therapeutic massage. We do not diagnose, and nothing we send back names a condition or recommends care.

Do you bill the patient's insurance?

No. We work with a referral from your doctor or other provider, and we give the patient a receipt they can send to their plan. Whether the plan pays is between the patient and the plan.

How soon does the patient hear from you?

The desk calls within two business days of the referral, and tells your office when the first visit is booked.

Can the patient choose the therapist?

Yes. Each of our four therapists books on their own page, and the desk can match a patient by pressure, schedule or language.
